A little bit history about Lake Toba:
Lake Toba
Toba Lake or Danau Toba
is one of the largest lake in the world and
the most popular destination in Indonesia.
The lake is like a vast ocean approximately about 100 km x 30 km.
In the middle of the lake, there is a large island, Samosir Island.
Samosir Island
situated at an altitude of 100 meters above sea level.
According to research from Michigan Technological University,
United States researches, there was a terffying explosion which
destroyed human beings, animals and plants
in the period of 75,500 years ago at the Lake Toba.
The eruption was spew rocks and volcanic ashes for as far as 200 km.
The eruption made a vomit darkness up to two weeks.
The impact of the eruption was the formation of a large volcanic creater.
Long after the eruption, the crater filled with water that
everntually formed a large lake which is the Lake Toba.
The existence of Samosir Island was
formed due to the magma pressure that not yet coming from the earth.

After breakfast around 7:30 AM,
we made our way to the Tomok Batak Village.

It takes 20 minutes to arrive the area.

Fashion lovers will appreciate the chance to get in touch with the Batak people's traditional cloth, the Ulos at this tiny village. These intricately printed cloths are entirely handmade with traditional tools beautifully crafted labours of love.

Batak People, is the indigenous tribe of
North Sumatra Island.

One of the significant tribe in Indonesia. As we know, that north Sumatra is the homeland of Batak people, so is this island. Samosir Island is the centre of the Batak culture and many of this people’s artifacts remain on the island. Moreover, the people believe that this island was the origin of Batak people because of there is Pusuk Buhit. Pusuk Buhit is a hill with an altitude of more than 1800 meters above the surface of Lake Toba. This hill is believed to be the universe or “Mulajadi Nabolon” or the Almighty God who revealed himself. Moreover, in this district there is Mulamula Sianjur Village which is the first village of Batak society. In this village there is a cultural heritage in the form of a miniature house Si Raja Batak.

Tomok is famous for its tourist market and fo6r the
stone chairs of Siallagan.
These fascinating sets of stone furniture artifacts are called
"Stones for Meeting and Trials".
The stones believed to be over 200 years old.
This is the tomb of the warriors of Batak people .
The tomb is created for the Batak people
and tourist to pay respect to them.
This grand building, before stepping into its role spread
knowledge of local culture.
Its a place they keep Batak people treasurer and the replicas of their home.
We will continue our journey to Museum Huta Bolon
to watch performance. It take around 40 minutes to reach there.

This is a major tourist site and the place where traditional dances and the Sigale Gale puppet performance are held. The Sigale Gale puppet is a life-sized wooden puppet that is used during Batak funeral rites as a vessel for the spirit of the dead.
Sigale gale puppet has a lot of verse on how the history of Sigale gale is created. The trusted version is that it is believed A prince that died during war but did not get the blessing of his parents before going to war. The puppet is made from wood to recreate the existence of the prince. It is named Manggale. Manggale kept the king accompanied through out his life. Until the king’s last breath, the puppet dance around the corpse of the king.

The decoration on the boat as on the buildings are in the traditional batak colors. Red represent signifying zest for life, black represent death and white represent the holy spirit.

Huta Bolon Simanindo or Bolon Simanindo village was once the home of Batak King Sidauruk and his 14 wives. The family's royal tombs is sit at the entrance of village which is now a little museum dedicated to preserving and sharing Toba Batak culture.
After that we having lunch at Jenny's Restaurant near Siallagan stone chair. It takes around 40 mins to arrive. 1.30 pm we start ordering our lunch.

After shopping, around 3.30 PM
we depart to white sand beach.
It takes 50 mins drive from Siallagan Souvenir Shops .
White Sand Beach
White sand is located on the island of Samosir Parbaba.
It called white sand beach because the sand of
the shores of Lake Toba is all white and only
and in this beach has a very beautiful white sand.
The waves are not strong and the wind is calming.
With a deep of only about 5 feet and crystal clear water,
the beach is perfect for swimming activities
and water sports like banana boats.
The price for banana boat is Rp 250000 (RM 80.40) for a boat. It can fill until 8 person but we decide to ride within us only even the price for 5 person a bit expensive.
We will stay there until 7:15 PM to watch sunset.
The sunset area Lake Toba quiet early which is around 6.45 PM.
After dusk, the scenery in this area is replaced
with the shadow of Pusut Buhik mountain and
walls across the banks of Lake Toba.

Bubur Sitohap.
Sitohap porridge itself is a typical food of Silalahi residents on
the edge of Lake Toba, North Sumatra.
Manufacture of pulp material is the same as other types of porridge
including nutmeg and andaliman (spice typical of Batak).
The unique ways of cooking this porridge is it takes
5 hours to process the slurry.

Sipiso-piso Waterfall
is one of the talles waterfall in Indonesia.
The name Sipiso-piso means 'like a knife'.
The waterfall is 120m of high and it is located
in Tonggjang Village.
This waterfall is formed by a small underground
river of the Karo Plateau
and flows out into the Lake Toba caldera.
We need extra energy to reach the waterfall
because there is 1000 staircase near the waterfall.
The local government has bulit such kind of
comforting places for visitors and tired travelers.
We can just sit and enjoy the spectacular sparking fall of Sipiso-piso.

Mango, Salak (snake fruit) and Markisa (passion fruit)
is few of the most famous fruits here.
The seller there know how to attract customer
and we can taste if for free.
The price quiet cheap and they sell fresh fruits.
6:15 PM we depart from fruit market to our last destination
which is Kuala Namu International Airport.
It takes 2 hours to arrive there.
We fill up our tummy with the fruit and local food
that we bought at the market
in the van since it take 2 hours to arrive.
8.25 pm
depart from Kuala Namu International Airport to KLIA.
We feel sad to leave Medan, Indonesia because
it feels like such a short journey and not fully visit all place around there.
